could the list of officials only show contact methods that they actually use ie if they don't use e-mail don't put an e-mail address. I tried to contact several officials by e-mail before the AGM and I assume that they did not use e-mail rather than just not replying.

Anon, I’ve recently contacted all the WCU officials for their up to date contact details. For those that have replied I’ve updated their details on the web site. I have to assume that the email details they’ve included are current and regularly checked. Sometimes it is possible that an incoming email could be classed as spam and is blocked somewhere en route. To that end, I’ve suggested to the board that we all have a welshchessunion.co.uk address. This will make it easy to filter out WCU emails within their email client. Subject to discussion, this might be in place soon. Regards Mark Adams

Thank you Mark. A welsh chess union e-mail address sounds like a very good idea. Some officials may not be keen on e-mails but the facility is very much appreciated by those of us who work irregular hours and are awful at looking after our mail. I also think that the changes to the website and the more regularly updated news is encouraging progress, and will hopefully achieve a lot more usage of the website and be a way of uniting chess over the whole of Wales.

Whilst I’m happy to have contact from anyone within the WCU my preferences are for initial contact via email. I’m self employed and so may not get back to everyone immediately due to irregular hours, but am on-line most nights. If people do wish to phone then I’d appreciate any calls to be before 10pm – I’m up for work at 5:45 and need my beauty sleep!
