The Welsh Chess Championship 2004 Henry Golding Trophy The Welsh Chess Championship 2004 was held at the Moat House hotel in Cardiff. It was a special celebration in its Jubilee Year. To mark this 50th anniversary all previous champions were invited to compete. Many accepted the challenge making this possibly the strongest championship in its history. The opening ceremony was well attended and we were honoured by the speeches made by our patrons Sian Lloyd and Lembit Opik. 1st Suan Evans-Quek 6/7 2nd Howard Williams 5Ѕ/7 3rd = Leighton Williams IM, Ioan Rees, Iolo Jones and Tim Kett 5/7 Ioan Rees also won the Welsh Chess Championship U-21 Title a point clear of his nearest rival. |
